The Goodreads Tag

I scream

You scream

We all scream for books!

What a greeting! Anyway, I saw The Goodreads Tag on The Write Books Blog and she said anyone and everyone could do it. That’s why I’m here today. 🙂

What was the last book you read?

If the question’s referring to the last published book I read, then this one:

I’ve been reading the Warriors series… and it feels like there is a zillion books or something. Anyway, I’m reading the Dawn of the Clans, a spin-off of the books that started it all. I recently finished book two, Thunder Rising. Now I’m currently reading book three, The First Battle.

What are you currently reading?

Um, on GR I have a lot listed that I’m currently reading (and some of them are still packed away), so I’ll list the most recent ones.

Befriending the Beast

Ten: How the Commandments

The First Battle (Warriors: Dawn of the Clans #3)

What was the last book you marked to-read?

I like this author’s Minecraft books, so don’t judge me. (although the cover is a bit iffy) 😛

Do you use the star system?

Yeah, but I pretty much base it on my liking of the book and if it was good. I really don’t don’t give any in-depth reviews unless I need to (such as reviewing it for someone) or I really like it.

Are you doing the 2017 Reading Challenge?

Yes and I think I am doing quite well.

2017 Reading Challenge

2017 Reading Challenge
Crystal has
read 101 books toward
her goal of
207 books.

Although, half of the books I read might be picture books. 🙂

Do you have a wishlist?

Who wouldn’t?! Well, I really don’t have too many. A few:

Tigerheart’s Shadow (Warriors Super Edition #10)

The Book Thief

Indian in the Cupboard

Who are your favorite authors?

I’m not an author-person…. for some series, yeah, but otherwise… Here are some that I like: Erin Hunter, Janette Oke, and Mark Cheverton.

Have you joined any groups?

Yes, multiple groups. Either they’re christian, Marvel, or poll related. Fun Fact: I’m not really active in most of them unless I want to be.

How many Goodreads Shelves do you have?

Eh, I have 38 shelves. I do need them. 😛

Star-Wars, classics, favorites, library-books, etc.

I tag… dun dun dun da- You! I’m not certain who’s been tagged, and we all know it can be annoying having to do the same tag again, so makes sense.

Veiled Rose by Anne Elisabeth Stengl

This is the second book review I have posted on my blog and I hope to post more! 🙂

~Buy on Amazon~

~Shelf it on Goodreads~

“Rose Red trusts no one with her secret. She hides in the forest, her face veiled in rags, shunning the company of all save her old father and her nanny goat. Her life is bleak and lonely.

Until she meets a privileged young man sent to spend his summer in the mountains. Headstrong young Leo startles everyone by befriending Rose Red, and together they begin searching for the monster rumored to be stalking these lands.

But the hunt, which began as a game, holds greater risk than either imagines. Soon both are forced to test their trust in each other as a far more terrifying scourge puts their entire land at risk.

Book: Veiled Rose (Tales of Goldstone Wood #2)

Author: Anne Elisabeth Stengl

Rating: 1 Star/DNF

To be honest, I couldn’t finish this book.
First, I really didn’t understand a thing that was going on. Of course, this is the second book so I should read the first one at some point. Second, I’m a little disappointed in Bethany House. I thought that they only published good books. I suppose you could think that I’m expecting books that I will like for sure from them, considering that they’re a christian company, but that’s not the case. I haven’t seen a thing in Veiled Rose that made me feel like this was christian fiction. It really seemed secular, in my opinion. I decided to check out/research the author… it never mentioned her being a christian so now I’m questioning if the book was even aimed at Christians at all. Perhaps Bethany House only published it because it was supposedly “clean”? I even checked out reviews to see what everyone else thought of it… and it’s apparently dark, frightening, etc. I wasn’t aware of this, and that, in my opinion, is not god-honoring… plus, in my heart, I felt like God was telling me not to read this, so I listened after I finished chapter 4.
The book in general: Like I said, I didn’t understand a thing. To me, Leo is a boring character… at least from the point I stopped at. I honestly did enjoy chapter 4, about Rose Red. Otherwise… 😛

The book did seem to possibly include magical elements, since dragons and stuff were discussed, but I’m not completely certain about that part.

I don’t recommend it, unless you somehow like dark books. I don’t understand how anyone could, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. 🙂

I’m sorry for the short review, but there wasn’t too much to say about Veiled Rose.

At least this book can finally go back to the library.

This was written in my own words and opinions.

For the categories, I used Goodreads to check what genres the book was listed under.

March and April Roundup + May Goals

March and April were the distraught months of the year! As most of you know, I moved. Plus, I’ve been sick every month of the year so far. Guess what?

I’m sick again… It’s getting a little old. 😛

I wasn’t able to post my March Assessment and I needed to do April’s, so I’m cramming a lot into one post!

Before the Move – Part 4

I finally got around to putting together this post. I decided to keep posting about the move from where I left off. That means you’ll have to wait longer for the awesome pictures I got while driving to Wisconsin drowning in boredom half of the time… sorry. #sorrynotsorry

Now first…. let me do something.

Butterflies in my stomach… get it? 🙂

Starting with my awesome cereal box collection. And there is also a granola bar box.

I’m not even sure why I didn’t take another picture…. this is way too blurry, but it’s the best I have. 0.0

My awesome Star Wars collection. I did keep this stuff, if you want to know. 😉

I even have some Star Wars shirts that I could’ve posted, but that would’ve been too much, if you catch my drift. #imastarwarsnerd
My awesome bags #stillastarwarsnerd

And look! I also found some movie tickets in my collection…. 😛

Well lookie there… I’m a Marvel nerd too. I especially love collecting the same ticket 3-4 times. -_- And yes, I finally got rid of them.

I apparently loved collecting Moshi Monsters trading cards and Mcworld (A McDonald virtual world that was removed) codes. I even have some Club Penguin trading cards as well…. 0.0

Brings back so many memories…. I still call Ice Cream, Ice Scream… lol. Thx Moshi Monsters.

So there. My awesome stupid collecting pack-rat skills has been revealed!
