Hello fellow adventurers! Today, I welcome to you at my stop for Amanda Tero’s blog tour for the release of her wonderful new book, The Secret Slipper.
About the book:
“Being a cripple is only the beginning of Lia’s troubles. It seems as if Bioti’s goal in life is to make Lia as miserable as possible. If Lia’s purpose is to be a slave, then why did God make her a cripple? How can He make something beautiful out of her deformity?
Raoul never questioned the death of his daughter until someone reports her whereabouts. If Ellia is still alive, how has she survived these ten years with her deformity? When Raoul doesn’t know who to trust, can he trust God to keep Ellia safe when evidence reveals Bioti’s dangerous character?
As time brings more hindrances, will Raoul find Ellia, or will she forever be lost to the father she doesn’t even know is searching for her?”
Wanna know how I found out about this book? So I was going down my WordPress reader, looking for something specific that I don’t remember now, and I happened to see that Amanda Tero had posted on her personal blog that it was the last day to sign up to be a part of her book release… I loved the title. And don’t get me started on the beautiful cover! I sat there, mouth open and thinking
trying not to shout “HOW DID I MISS THIS?!” Of course I jumped at the chance to sign up. Fun fact: I thought that it was over the instant I tried to sign up, since it wouldn’t let me type the info in. I almost cried… then, feeling stupid, I realized that I had to sign in with a Google account. 😛
WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW THIS LINE. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK OF BEING SPOILED!
The Secret Slipper is a Cinderella retelling, and a nice twist on the original! I honestly didn’t see much that reminded me of Cinderella. The story was very original! Only one part really reminded me of the fairy-tale, specifically when Lia was the slave girl to Biola the “step-mother”.
Dumphey and Noel reminded me of the the original Cinderella’s mice friends, Gus and… ugh I don’t remember the other name.
I felt like my heart was beating faster as Raoul and Lia bumped into each other. They conversed, but never realized who each-other were! Of course I didn’t expect Lia to know, but it was kind of funny… in a way.
I don’t want to spoil any more for those who are reading this post, so lastly:
This was an excellent story and I hope you’ll consider reading it sometime soon in the near future! 🙂
Interview with Amanda Tero
Let’s give a huge welcome to the author….
Amanda Tero! Welcome, Amanda!
Tip: Italic is Amanda, black and bold is me.
1. Where did you get your idea for The Secret Slipper?
I had finished “Befriending the Beast” (a spin-off of Beauty and the Beast) as a stand-alone when an author friend asked, “Hey, have you ever considered a father/daughter Cinderella story?” And that is exactly where the inspiration started. I prayed about it, and the Lord supplied the full story.
2. How long did it take you to write the book?
I started “The Secret Slipper” on November 22, 2016 and finished the final draft March 22, 2017 (cool; I didn’t realize it was exactly four months!).
Me: Four months?! Wow that was really fast! Impressive…. :O
3. When you were writing the book, what was the biggest struggle for you?
Finding the time to write was one of the biggest struggles. The next struggle was filling in all of the plot holes I created. Yeah…the rewrite was a tough but amazing process and I had an amazing team to help me!
4. Is this the first book you’ve written?
“The Secret Slipper” makes the third novella I’ve published, trailing behind about eight short stories.
5. Did you have to do some research?
Yes, I did have to do some research. I had researched some basics for “Befriending the Beast,” but I’m constantly adding as I write the story, so I open up my browser and books quite often.
6. When you hit a writing slump, what helps you to get out of it?
Prayer, taking a break, forcing myself to write just 100 words, and talking it out with friends and other authors.
7. Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
Be sure to pray and seek God as you write. Added to that, never stop learning. Be teachable when people offer critiques. And read well-written books.
Thank you so much for this wonderful interview with you Amanda! I enjoed getting the chance to ask an author some questions!

About the Author
Amanda Tero is a homeschool graduate who desires to provide God-honoring, family-friendly reading material. She has enjoyed writing since before ten years old, but it has only been since 2013 that she began seriously pursuing writing again – starting with some short stories that she wrote for her sisters as a gift. Her mom encouraged her to try selling the stories she published, and since then, she has begun actively writing short stories, novellas, and novels. If something she has written draws an individual into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, it is worth it!
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)
